December Night Volunteers Needed Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7

We hope that you will be able to help us show San Diego what Danish julehygge is.  Once again, we need many volunteers for December Nights to help bake and serve our much loved æbleskiver, hot apple cider and hot chocolate at the cottage.  In the “spirit garden” we will sell gløg, snaps and eggnog.  Over those two days, House of Denmark needs 13 to 15 on volunteers at any given time.  Please don’t hold back.

Volunteers are needed for these times:

  • Friday, December 6, from 2 p.m. to 11p.m.
  • Saturday, December 7, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The toughest spots to fill are from 5 to 11 p.m.

Important:

To volunteer or if you have any questions, please contact Oda at 858-254-6295 or email at odaaudish@gmail.comThe Board wants to help make this a fun and rewarding experience for you.

When you respond, please specify which DAY and TIME you are signing up for.

Please let us know if your time is flexible as this helps us coordinate all the volunteers. Any contribution you can make to help make this a success is greatly appreciated.

Bonus: If you help out for 4 hours or more, you receive free participation in the House of Denmark Christmas party on December 14. Volunteering for 3 hours will earn you a 50% discount on the price of the party.

Tips: Be sure to add extra time to get to the park because getting to the park and finding a parking space can be a challenge.  Here is a link about parking and access to the park. https://www.sandiego.gov/december-nights/transportation-parking

To avoid the most traffic is to come early so you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of December Nigths before you volunteer or break up the volunteering with a prolonged break.

If you have any questions and concerns, please call/text Oda at 858-254-6295 or email at odaaudish@gmail.com The Board wants to help make this a fun and rewarding experience for you.

*Spirit Garden Training/Certification

The City is requiring people serving in the Spirit garden receive “responsible server” training. As you may remember, in the past they did that training on the day of the event….very informal.  Now they are requiring that it be done ahead of time and that we actually have certificates that will be turned into the City.  They have a free training session tomorrow Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park (where we have had the Christmas party before).   We just learned about the training yesterday as well.  The training should be a little less than an hour.

I will look for other on-line training options.  If there is a charge for the training, the House of Denmark will reimburse you.
